Located in La Vila de Gràcia, Almeria Teatre opened its doors in 2009 following an extensive restoration and modernisation of the theatre, which had been part of the Casa de Almeria in the 1960s and had later become a bingo hall.
The Almeria describes itself as a fringe theatre and its programme includes productions by independent companies, although it has its own resident company, Gataro, directed by Victor Álvaro.
This comfortable theatre has a capacity for 183 spectators and also has a very pleasant bar.
The Almeria hosts the annual Barcino Festival, which began in 2007 as a kind of 'off Festival Grec' and is now part of the Festival de Creació a Gràcia.
