1929 - Banyoles: Pere Verdaguer i Juanola, writer (died 2017).
1962 - Barcelona: Isabel Coixet, film director and screenwriter.
1818 - Alella, Maresme: Agustí Canelles i Carreres, Catalan astronomer and mathematician (born 1765).
1938 - Burgos (Castella i Lleó): Manuel Carrasco i Formiguera, Catalan politician, murdered by Francoists.
2015 - Barcelona: Xavier Vinader, Catalan journalist (born 1047).
In 2017, Palm Sunday, which is the religious festival that marks the beginning of Easter, is on Sunday April 9th and there are processions in towns throughout Catalonia.
