Although there are many self-catering apartments located very close to the city's most famous street, there are relatively few located on La Rambla itself.
Interestingly, of the four Ramblas Apartment Rentals that I have come
across, two are located at the top of La Rambla close to Plaça
Catalunya and two at the bottom below Plaça Reial closer to the Port of
In terms of facilities, there is not much to choose between them but if pushed, I'd give a thumbs up to Apart-Ramblas 108 and Bacardi Ramblas Apartaments because of the buildings they are housed in.
These two Barcelona Ramblas Apartment hotels are also slightly closer to the central section of La Rambla, where the atmosphere is a little more upbeat.
This section of La Rambla has a more Barcelona City Centre feel to it whereas, even though you're only a few metres away, below Plaça Reial you feel a little more disconnected from what's going on.
Obviously, these are considerations you need to bear in mind when making your decision.
Having said that, the simple fact that you can find relatively cheap self-catering options actually on one of Europe's most celebrated streets is pretty amazing so I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
*The Ramblas Hotels Search Box also offers self-catering options on Hotels Combined.
La Rambla, 122, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona
Magnificently located at La Rambla, 122, Citadines Ramblas Barcelona is right at the top of La Rambla very close to Plaça Catalunya and Catalunya Metro station.
This section is known as La Rambla de Canaletes because of its famous drinking fountain and is a perfect location for sightseeing.
The Citadines building itself is bright and modern and with the guarantee of an international apartment chain, you can book Barcelona Ramblas Apartments and Studios for between 2 and 5 adults.
All rooms have free wired Internet access and one of the big attractions is the rooftop solarium, which offers fantastic views over Barcelona and the Barri Gòtic.
La Rambla, 108, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona
A little further down at La Rambla, 108 on La Rambla dels Estudis, Apart-Ramblas 108 offers modern Barcelona Ramblas apartment rentals for between one and four adults.
Here you are very close to the central section of La Rambla with its flower stalls, the famous Boqueria Market and El Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house.
Many of the flats at Apart-Ramblas 108 have balconies that look out onto La Rambla itself, so you really get the atmosphere of staying on Barcelona's most celebrated street.
The apartments themselves are really nice inside and free WiFi is available along with all mod cons.
The kitchen areas are equipped with a microwave, toaster, coffee maker and washing machine.
La Rambla, 40-42, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona
Much further down at La Rambla 40-42 on La Rambla dels Caputxins, Ramblas Bacardi Apartments are housed in a magnificent 19th century building a short walk from Plaça Reial.
All apartments and studios provide accommodation for up to 4 adults and children up to 12 years old can stay free of charge.
The apartments themselves are functionally but comfortably decorated.
This section of La Rambla is close to Drassanes metro station, which is on the Green L3 Metro Line and you are a short walk from the Port of Barcelona.
All the Ramblas Apartments offer excellent views but being close to the Plaça Reial but out of earshot is also a big plus as this marvelous square is lined with café-terraces and restaurants and is home to some of Barcelona's best music clubs.
La Rambla, 34, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona
Even closer to the port at La Rambla, 34, Apartamentos Mur-Mar also offer a central location at the top of La Rambla de Santa Mònica.
The apartments offer accommodation from between one and four adults in a large apartment block overlooking Plaça del Teatre and directly facing the Teatre Principal
Of the apartments covered so far, this is the location that convinces me the least because this section of La Rambla can be a little seedy, particularly late at night.
However, you are a very short walk from both the Port of Barcelona and the Plaça Reial and if you choose to book with Apartamentos Mur Mar, I would recommend the attic apartments that have brilliant terraces where you can sit out and lap up the authentic Barri Gòtic atmosphere.
