Located downstairs at the Hotel Fuster at the top of Passeig de Gràcia, Cafè Vienès is a legendary Barcelona café where famous tertulias or intellectual meetings took place.
Lluís Domènech i Montaner's magnificent modernista Casa Fuster fell into rack and ruin until 2004, when it was converted into a 5-Star hotel by Hoteles Centre, who also refurbished the wonderful café.
By day, Cafè Vienès is a café-lounge for Hotel Fuster's affluent guests and uptown shoppers on Passeig de Gràcia but on Thursday nights in the summer months, it becomes just about the coolest jazz club in town.
The venue puts on top local and international performers, even Woody Allen has played here, and you can have a drink, tapas or a meal at the same as you watch the show.
If you want to feel like a character out of a 1950s movie then a jazz gig at Cafè Vienès is an experience not to be missed.
