The main Costa del Garraf Hotels offer centres on the lovely resort of Sitges and moves down the coast through Sant de Ribes, Vilanova i La Geltrú and Cubelles. Although not strictly on the Costa del Garraf, I've included Castelldefels here too, which is actually in El Baix Llobregat.
Sitges is by far the most tourist-oriented town along the Costa del
Garraf, and this is where most people choose to come for their holidays.
The comarca capital - Vilanova i la Geltrú - has a wondefully laid back rhythm to it and is well worth checking out. It's much less touristy but would make a fantastic base for combining a beach holiday with exploring the countryside inland or even visiting the nearby wine region of El Penedès.
The other two towns on the Costa del Garraf - Sant Pere de Ribes and Cubelles - are less well-known. Only a small part of the Sant Pere de Ribes municipality is on the coast, so not surprisingly this lovely town is not so geared towards tourism. Despite having a lengthy stretch of coastline, Cubelles hasn't really been developed for tourism.
Although not strictly on the Costa del Garraf, I've included
Castelldefels in this section. It lies just north of Sitges and forms
part of the section of unbroken coastline south of Barcelona El Prat
Airport, so it makes more sense to me to include it here.
On the subject of Barcelona Airport, it is definitely worth mentioning that the proximity of the Coasta del Garraf Hotels and Resorts makes this part of the coast such a great holiday destination, and if you add the fact that Barcelona City Centre is only 30 minutes away by train, you really can't go wrong.
Not surprising, Sitges is where you'll find the best Costa del Garraf Hotels offer with over 50 places to stay listed.
For the conventional holidaymaker, the 3 Star Sitges Hotels are more than adequate and tend to be located closer to the central seafront promenade the Passeig de la Ribera. This is a great place to stay, right next to the main beach and close to the bars and restaurants in the centre of town.
There are a few 4 Star Sitges Hotels in this area too, but many top of the
range establishments tend to be in the slightly more select areas of the
Aiguadolç Marina and the Terramar Golf Club, which is also home to
Sitges' only 5 Star Hotel. These are both lovely areas but you'll
probably need a hire car to get the best out of your stay.
The 1 and 2 Star Sitges Hotels seem to be located about 10 minutes' walk from the beach, close to the station. This is actually a lovely part of town and is ideal for single travellers or couples, who will enjoy the laid back atmosphere and won't mind the short walk to the beach. There are a couple of hotels in this section directed specifically towards Gay Tourism.
Whether Castelldefels is the Costa del Garraf or not is a moot point. However, although it is actually in the Baix Llobregat comarca, Castelldefels does form part of the coast south of Barcelona and is located between the Llobregat Delta and the Garraf Massif.
There is choice of 4 Star Castelldefels Hotels as well as 3 Star Castelldefels Hotels that, given the town's fantastic beaches and its location so close to Barcelona City Centre and Barcelona Airport, are oriented towards both sun-seeking holidaymakers and business travellers.
The excellent 1 and 2 Star Castelldefels Hotels offer is much more standard tourist but the out of season business visitor would do well to bear them in mind.
