1583 - València: Nicolau Factor, Franciscan friar, Renaissance painter and Valencian beat (63 years old).

1849 - Barcelona: Andreu Avel·lí Pi i Arimon, historian and epigraphista specialising in history of Barcelona.

1933 - Barcelona: Francesc Macià i Llussà, Catalan politician and general, 122nd President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

1948 - Prada de Conflent: Pompeu Fabra, Catalan philologist and engineer.

1955 - Barcelona: Fructuós Gelabert i Badiella, Catalan film maker (born 1874).

1983 - Palma: Joan Miró i Ferrà, painter

1998 - València: Vicent Ventura i Beltran, Valencian journalist and politician, founder of the Partit Socialista Valencià. (born 1924).

2015 - Barcelona: Montserrat Gudiol i Corominas, Catalan painter (born 1933).

Festivals and Commemorations

December 25th is El Dia de Nadal or Christmas Day: The commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ in Western Christianity Jesús and one of the most important Christian festivals.

The Saints' Day of Sant Pere Nolasc, friar and founder of the Order la Mercè.
