1041 - Castell d'Aro, Comtat de Girona: Countess Ermessenda de Carcassona hands over Castell de Benidormiens to the Monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

1706 - Xàtiva (la Costera): Field Marshall Joan Basset frees the city, occupied by the Felipistes (War of the Spanish Succession).

1850 - Vic (Osona): Teresa Saits i Vilardebò founds the congregation of the Religioses de Sant Felip Neri i la Puríssima Concepció.

1948 - Portell de Morella: Anti-Franco resistance fighters Ángel Fuertes Vidosa, Manuel Ortiz, José Nieto Martín, Andrés Gómez and Manuel Torres Camallongadie in an attack by the Guardia Civil.

1963 - Mallorca: The celebration of the completion of the "Diccionari català-valencià-balear".

2014 - Sants: An attempt to evict the squatters of CSA Can Vies causes a week of violent demonstrations known as #EfecteCanVies.

Births

1825 - Barcelona: Jaume Bosch, Catalan guitarist and composer (died 1895).

1972 - Sóller, Mallorca: Tòfol Castanyer, Mallorcan mountain runner.

Deaths

2009 - Barcelona, Barcelonès: Alfons Milà, Catalan architect (born 1924).
