1543 - Manresa: Àngela Margarida Prat, Àngela Serafina, Catalan religious figure (died 1608).
   
1568 - València: Bernat Català de Valleriola i Vives de Canyamars, Valencian poet, knight of the Order of Calatrava and founding president of the Acadèmia dels Nocturns (died 1608).
   
1740 - Barcelona: Joan Antoni Desvalls, Catalan landowner and scientist.
   
1915 - Llinars del Vallès: Ramon Sabatés Massanell, Catalan cartoonist (died 2003).
   
1916 - València: Josep Manuel Casas i Torres, Valencian geographer (died 2010).
   
1917 - Badalona: Maria Escrihuela i Giró, poet and radio presenter.

1923 - Lleida, Segrià: Joan Oró, Catalan biochemist.
   
1980 - Berga, Berguedà: Josep Ester Borràs CNT leader.
   
1961 - Manresa: Manel Estiarte i Duocastella, Catalan waterpolo player.


Deaths

1243 - Mas Calbó, Reus: Bernat Calbó, jurist, bureaucrat, soldier and Cistercian priest, venerated as a saint (born 1180).
   
1996 - València: Miquel Asins Arbó, composer and conductor (78 years).
   
2002 - València: Alfons Cucó, Valencian teacher and politician (61 anys).
