1964 - Barcelona: the first television broadcast in Catalan: La ferida lluminosa by Josep Maria de Segarra, from the Barcelona studios of TVE.
1997 - Barcelona: the first issue in Catalan of El Periódico de Catalunya is published.
2005 - Barcelona: the ex-senator and pacifist Lluís Maria Xirinacs aged 74 enters the Model prison in Barcelona, by order of the Audiència Nacional, and the same day is transferred to the Centre Penitenciari de Can Brians in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (el Baix Llobregat).
1897 - Barcelona: The world-renowned Catalan doctor and surgeon, Josep Trueta i Raspall, who pioneered the treatment of war injuries during the Spanish Civil War and World War II, was born in Poblenou in Barcelona (died 1977).
1987 - Sabadell, Vallès Occidental: Kílian Jornet i Burgada, Catalan mountain runner.
1990 - Barcelona: Xavier Cugat, Catalan musician (born 1900)
2010 - Barcelona: Joan Solà i Cortassa, Catalan linguist, Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes del 2009 (born 1940)
