1947 - Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Baix Empordà): Enric Descayre i Salgas founds the Setmanari Àncora.
1989 - Madrid (Espanya): the Supreme Court approves the separation of Salou from Vila-seca de Solcina (el Tarragonès).


1910 - Oriola (Baix Segura): Miguel Hernández Gilabert, Valencian poet and playwright (died 1942).
1912 - Barcelona: Josep Ferrater Mora, philosopher and essayist.
1926 - Barcelona: Ramon Folch i Camarasa, Catalan writer and translator, known for being the scriptwriter of Massagran and his contributions to the magazine En Patufet.
1930 - Barcelona: Néstor Almendros, Cinematographer, Oscar winner, member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
1957 - Badalona: Joaquim Costa Puig, Catalan basketball player.


1046 - Sant Miquel de Cuixà, County of Conflent: Abbot Oliba, Count of Berga and Ripoll, bishop of Vic and abbot of Santa Maria de Ripoll and Sant Miquel de Cuixà. Founder of the Monastery of Montserrat.

1348 - Elionor de Portugal, princess of Portugal i Queen consort of the Crown of Aragon.
1607 - Girona: Antoni Vicenç Domènec, historian and Dominican.
1920 - València: Lluís Tramoyeres i Blasco, Valencian art historian (born 1854).
2007 - Barcelona: Albert Musons, journalist and politician from Gràcia.
