Santa Tecla of Iconium was a first century Turkish follower of Paul of Tarsus, who was popular in the Byzantine period.
She isn't mentioned in the New Testament and the earliest record of her life comes in the ancient apocryphal Acts of Paul and Thecla, which dates from the Byzantine period.
In Catalonia, she is patron saint of Tarragona and Sitges and is also the protector of bone cancer sufferers.
