The Sitges Film Festival or Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya specialises in the genres of fantasy, science fiction and horror and is held in coastal resort of Sitges every year in early October.
Having been founded in 1968, the Sitges Film Festival is not only the first film festival in the world to specialise in fantasy cinema but it's also Catalonia's best-known and most prestigious film festival and in 2016 it lasts from Friday October 7th to Sunday October 16th.
Every year the festival is host to international as well as Catalan movie stars and directors, who come to promote their new films, and 2016 is no exception.
Some of the movies that grab the attention this year are Terrence Malick's first documentary "Voyage of Time" and biopics about two great modern fantasy directors "David Lynch: The Art of Life" and "De Palma".
This year is dedicated to Star Trek's 50th Anniversary and features "For the Love of Spock" and as usual, the streets of Sitges will be full of zombies, cannibals and aliens as well as stands dedicated to gore, terror, fantasy and animated cinema.
One of the highlights of the festival is the chance to dress up, so even if you just want to be a bystander, make sure you catch the Sitges Zombie Walk on Saturday 8th October.
Make sure you don't miss any of this year's great films so check out the Full Programme from the Official Sitges Film Festival Website
