1834 - At the beginning of the First Carlist War, an attempt by the Carlist General Manuel Carnicer to connect with the Carlists of Catalunya Nova fails in Maials, where the liberal leaders Josep Carratalà and Manuel Bretón won a resounding victory known as the Action of Maials.
2011 - Barcelona: The popular street poll on the independence of Catalonia is held in Barcelona, ending a year and a half of polls throughout the country.
1763 - Cervera, Diocese of Solsona: Benet Maria Moixó i de Francolí, Benedictine monk who became Archbishop of Charca in South America.
