1864 - Barcelona: Serafí Pitarra's L'esquella de la torratxa opens at the Teatre Odeon and becomes one of the first major succeses of theatre in Catalan.
1978 - València: The first session of the Consell del País Valencià is held after the Generalitat is restored.
1832 - València: Rafael Maria Liern i Cerach, Valencian playwright (died 1897).
1977 - Tarragona: Núria Solé, Catalan journalist.
1931 - Barcelona: Teresa Claramunt i Creus, Catalan anarcho-syndicalist leader (born 1862).
1945 - Barcelona: Alfons Sala i Argemí, industrial, Catalan lawyer and politician.
1977 - Figueres, Alt Empordà: Josep Pallach i Carolà, Catalan teacher and politician.
1993 - Montanejos, Alt Millars: Guillem Agulló i Salvador, a young left-wing pro-independence Valencian is knifed to death by a group of extreme right-wingers. Later, Pedro Cuevas, his alleged murderer stands for the 2007 Municipal Elections in Xiva under the banner of the neonazi Alianza Nacional party.
