1599 - València (Crown of Aragon): King Felipe III of Castile marries Margaret of Austria in Valencia Cathedral.

1756 - Menorca: French troops commanded by the Duke of Richelieu desembark on the island, beat the English and occupy the island for a few days (Seven Years War).

1971 - València: Closing ceremony of I Congrés d'Història del País Valencià.

2007 - Barcelona: Òmnium Cultural cedes its documentary archive to the Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya.

1480 - Subiaco (currently Italy): Lucrècia Borja, daughter of Roderic Gil de Borja i Borja, who was named Pope Alexander VI in 1492.

1867 - El Masnou: Lluís Millet i Pagès, founder of the Orfeó Català.

1969 - Valls: Dolors Batalla, Catalan politician.

Deaths

1723 - València: Tomàs Vicent Tosca i Mascó, Valencian intellectual, mathematician, cartographer and theologian, as well as creating the Novatores movement.

1946 - València: Gustau Pascual Falcó, Valencian musician and composer, author of the pasodoble «Paquito el Chocolatero» (born 1909).
