Located close to Plaça de Pi in the Barri Gòtic, Círcol Maldà is a small theatre equipped for musical, cabaret and theatre performances and occupies part of the ancient Palau Maldà.
In the 1980s, the musician Alfonso Vilalonga, heir to the Barons of Maldà, decided to adapt a room in the palace for the performing arts and in 1985, the theatre opened with capacity for 50 spectators.
Performances of music, theatre, dance and cabaret are normally between Wednesday and Monday and at the same time the palace puts on exhibitions, workshops and conferences.
Since 2013, El Círcol has been run been run by Els Pirates Teatre, which is formed by 14 members with a wide variety of performing arts specialities.
