1348 - Pere IV King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona beats the Unió de València in battle.

1640 - Coll de Balaguer (Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, el Baix Camp): the Castilian troops beat the Catalan resistance (Battle of Coll de Balaguer, Reapers' War).

1809 - Girona: The city falls to the French after a seven-month siege (Peninsular War).

2007 - France: Departament des Pirinees Orientals makes the Catalan language official.


1868 - Borriana, Plana Baixa: Vicente Cantos Figuerola, Valencian lawyer and politician, Minister of Justice, 1934-1935) during the Second Spanish Republic (died 1943).

1926 - Santanyí, Mallorca: Blai Bonet i Rigo, Mallorcan poet and writer.


1932 - Vic (Osona): Martí Genís i Aguilar, Catalan writer. (born 1847)

1936 - Vallés, Costera: Gonçal Vinyes i Massip, Valencian priest, poet and writer.

1966 - Sabadell (Vallès Occidental): Patrocini Agulló i Soler, defender of the poor.

1981 - Sabadell: Pau Abad i Piera, inventor and factory owner, pioneer of electronic engineering in Catalonia.

2008 - Premià de Mar, Maresme: Robert Segura Monje, Catalan comic writer and illustrator.
