1875 - València: Francesc Almarche i Vázquez, Valencian historian (died 1927).

1876 - el Vendrell, Baix Penedès: Pau Casals i Defilló, Catalan cellist (died 1973).

1914 - Girona: Domènec Balmanya, Catalan footballer (died 2002).

1955 - Granollers: Claudi Arimany i Barceló, internationally famous flautist, in terms of  interpretative style and musical concept considered direct heir to Jean-Pierre Rampal, under whom he studied and accompanied in many concerts.

1962 - Amer, la Selva: Carles Puigdemont i Casamajó, journalist, politician and 130th President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.


1859 - Barcelona: Pròsper de Bofarull i Mascaró, Catalan archiver and historian (born 1777).

1942 - Sant Quirze Safaja (Moianès): Màrius Torres, Catalan poet (born 1910).

1943 - Barcelona: Carme Karr, writer in Catalan, composer and feminist activist.

2009 - Barcelona: Joan Oncina, Catalan tenor (born 1921).

2015 - Girona, Gironès: Edward Hugh, English economist.
