Some Thoughts on the 2014-15 FCB Squad

The key continuing players from last season are Messi, Busquets, Iniesta, Neymar and Mascherano with new signings Rakitic, Mathieu and Claudio Bravo looking to occupy important roles in the future.

Xavi is in a slightly difficult position as he approaches the end of his career. He's still the brilliant player he always was but the future of the side will be based around Busquets in the traditional 4 organiser role with Rakitic given more freedom and verticality.

There are also some question marks around Alves, Piqué and Alba but only new signing Mathieu looks capable of giving any of them a run for their money as Luis Enrique seems to be consigning both Bartra and Montoya to the role of eternal promises.

When it finally comes together, a rejuvenated Messi, a much improved Neymar and new signing Luis Suarez could turn out to be one of the most exciting attacking line-ups in history.

Despite not being on the official first team squad, Munir and Sandro are the two youngsters that, in this early stage of the season look most likely to carve out a role for themselves.
