1808 - La Jonquera (l'Alt Empordà): With the pretext of attacking Portugal, in agreement with Treaty of Fontainebleau the first French troops enter Catalonia under the orders of General Duhesme (Peninsular War).
1939 - Catalunya: The Francoist troops reach the French border. The rest of Catalonia is already occupied.
1909 - Penàguila, Alcoià: Patrocini Agulló i Soler, active defender of the needy.
1920 - Figueres, Empordà: Josep Pallach i Carolà, Catalan politician and teacher (died 1977).
2005 - Barcelona: Miquel Bauçà, Mallorcan poet (born 1940).
2005 - Manhattan (Nova York): Jordi Casals i Ariet, Catalan biologist, descoverer of the Lassa virus (born 1911).
