1755 - Barcelona: Antoni Viladomat i Manalt, Catalan Baroque painter from the 18th century.

2000 - Barcelona: Xavier Turull i Creixell, Catalan violinist and composer (77 years old).

Festivals and Commemorations

January 22nd is the Saints' Day of Sant Vicenç, who was a Hispano-Roman Christian martyr, deacon to Sant Valerí, Bishop of Zaragoza, and is patron saint of Valencia and a number of other towns in Catalonia, where winter festivals are held in his honour.
