Events

1151 - Tudilén: The Treaty of Tudilén is signed between Alfonso VII the Emperor, King of León, Castile and Galícia, and Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona and Prince of Aragon

1939 - Catalonia : Francoist troops enter Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, El Masnou, Premià de Mar, Vilassar de Mar, Mataró, Artés, La Llagosta and Sant Fost de Campsentelles.

1994 - 24-hour general strike against social cuts and la imposition of the labour reform by the socialist government.

2005 - Barcelona Province: One of the tunnels of the extension of Line 5 of Barcelona Metro in the Carmel neighbourhood collapses. A large 35-metre deep whole appears,  a garage collapses, more than a thousand people have to be rehoused and another building needs to be demolished. There are no mortal victims.

1808 - Vilanova i la Geltrú, Garraf: Manuel de Cabanyes i Ballester, Pre-Romantic poet in the Spanish language.

1884 - Sabadell, Vallès Occidental: Cebrià Cabané i Bril, Catalan pianist and music teacher.

Deaths

1966 - l'Escala, Alt Empordà: Caterina Albert, known by the nom de plume Víctor Català, Catalan writer (born 1869).

1980 - Palma, Mallorca: Llorenç Villalonga, writer in Catalan (born 1897).

2016 - Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Baix Empordà: Carles Hac Mor, Catalan writer (born 1940).
