1841 - València: Antonio García Peris, Valencian photographer.

1854 - Barcelona: Remei Morlius i Balanzó, Barcelonan poet, educator and writer

1855 - Barcelona: Raimon Casellas i Dou, Catalan journalist, art critic, modernista narrator and collector.

1921 - Barcelona: Felícia Fuster i Viladecans, Barcelonan writer.

1962 - Gratallops, Priorat: Josep-Enric Balaguer i Pelegrí, Catalan painter.


1867 - Barcelona: Antoni Casanovas i Bosch, textile businessman and mayor of Sabadell.

1947 - València: Bernat Morales i Sanmartín, playwright, novelist, composer and journalist (born 1864).

2011 - València: Joan Piquer i Simón, Valencian film maker (born 1936).

Festivals and Commemorations

January 7th is the Saints' Day of Sant Ramon de Penyafort, who is a medieval Catalan saint and the patron of many parishes around Catalonia so there are quite a few celebrations in his honour but, as far as I know, no actual festivals.
