1832 - The Teatre Principal of València opens.

1936 - Matadepera, Vallès Occidental: Catalan businessmen Francesc Salvans i Armengol, and his son Joan Salvans i Piera, Agustí Prat i Marcet, Gaietà Vallès i Pujals, Joaquim Barata i Rocafort, Manuel Vallhonrat i Comerma i Josep Maria Duran i Torres, and the notary Francesc de Paula Badia i Tobella are murdered by Popular Front militia.

1938 - The Battle of the Ebro begins.

1942 - Trades union leader Joan Peiró is shot by firing squad in Paterna.

1930 - Barcelona: Eduard Manchón i Molina, Catalan footballer (died 2010).

Deaths

1922 - Xàtiva, la Costera: Matilde Ridocci i Garcia, Valencian teacher, educator and writer (born 1843).

1942 - Paterna, Horta Oest: Joan Peiró i Belis, anarchist trades unionist, general secretary of the CNT in the 1920s and Minister of Industry during the Second Republic.

1957 - Sabadell, Vallès Occidental: Francesc Izard i Bas, Catalan industrial engineer.

1977 - Barcelona: Enric Casassas i Cantó, Catalan educator.
