985 - Barcelona: The Andalusian Muslim leader Almansor (or Al-Mansur) culminates his campaign against the County of Barcelona by sacking and destroying part of the city and taking many citizens prisoner. This happened because Count Borrell II's calls for help were ignored by his feudal lord, the Frankish King Lotari I. For this reason, three years later, he refused to renew the vassalage agreement with the new King of France, Hugh Capet, which resulted in the de facto independence of the territories under Borrell's control.
1999 - Barcelona: A group of armed fascists attack the headquarters of the Associació d'Estudiants Progressistes.
1889 - Barcelona: Clementina Arderiu i Voltas, Catalan poetess.
1917 - Barcelona: Heribert Barrera, Catalan politician and chemist, member of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and first president of the restored Parliament of Catalonia from 1980 to 1984. (died 2011).
1980 - Barcelona: Pau Gasol i Sàez, Catalan basketball player.
2010 - Alacant, Alacantí: José Rico Pérez, businessman and president of Hèrcules CF of Alacant from 1971 to 1984 (born 1918).
2011 - Quart, Gironès: Miquel Pairolí i Sarrà, Catalan writer, literary critic and journalist (born 1955).
