1977 - Mallorca: The Mallorcan libertarian group Terra i Llibertat peacefully occupies the virgin island of Sa Dragonera (Balearic Islands) in order to halt plans for its urbanisation.

1895 - Barcelona: Josep Oriol Mestres i Esplugas, Catalan architect and nativity scene designer.

1955 - Benimaclet, València: Carles Salvador i Gimeno, Valencian poet, ethnologist and grammatician (born 1893).

1959 - el Port de Pollença, Mallorca: Hermen Anglada i Camarasa, Catalan painter.

1982 - Terrassa: Agustí Bartra i Lleonart, Catalan poeta, prose writer and university professor.

2003 - Esparreguera, Baix Llobregat: Lola Lizaran, Catalan actress (born 1932).

2005 - València: Amand Blanquer i Ponsoda, Valencian composer and music teacher (born 1935).
