1870 - Barcelona: The first Spanish Workers' Congress begins at Teatre Circ, where the Federació Regional Espanyola de l'Associació Internacional de Treballadors is formally constituted. It ends on 25th June.

1907 - Barcelona: Creation of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans

1990 - Barcelona: The Universitat Pompeu Fabra is founded.

2006 - Catalunya: Referendum to pass the reform to the Estatut de Catalunya.

2016 - Barcelona: Convergència i Unió is dissolved.


1904 - Sabadell (Vallès Occidental): Joan Prat i Esteve, Armand Obiols, Catalan writer, journalist and literary critic. (died 1971)


1982 - Calonge (Baix Empordà): Pere Caner i Estrany, Catalan historian, writer and archeologist. (born 1922)

1986 - Sabadell (Vallès Occidental): Joan Oliver i Sallarès, Pere Quart, Catalan poet, playwright and writer. (born 1899)
