1324 - Cagliari, Sardinia: El Lliurament de Càller or Freeing of Cagliari formalises the control of the Crown of Aragon over Sardinia.

1707 - Xàtiva, la Costera: Felipe V's troops burn the city.

1987 - The bomb explosion planted by ETA at the Hipercor shop in Sant Andreu, Barcelona ends in 21 dead and 40 injured.

2005 - A forest fire destroys 900 hectares in the comarca of el Bages.


1932 - València: Josep Sanchis Grau, Valencian comic artist.

1938 - Carlet, la Ribera Alta: Ramon Trullenque Peris, Valencian surgeon and historian.

1967 - Alcoi: Pablo Llorens Serrano, Valencian animator.

1971 - València: Nacho Fresneda, Valencian actor.


1833 - Girona (Gironès): Francesc Joncar i Querol, Catalan priest, choir master and composer.

1929 - Adolf Bertran, Valencian republican politician.

1991 - Figueres, Alt Empordà: Agapit Torrent i Batlle, musician, saxophonist, and composer, mainly of sardanas (born 1923).

2011 - Lleida: Víctor Torres, Catalan politician (born 1915).

2012 - Barcelona: Emili Teixidor i Viladecàs, teacher, journalist and writer in the Catalan language.

2013 - Barcelona: Toni Lecha Berges, pro-independence leader from Girona.
