1907 - Vila de Gràcia: Club Esportiu Europa, as it is known today, is founded in 1907, following the merger of two modest clubs (Provençal and Madrid de Barcelona). When looking for a name, they decided to adopt the name of a club that was about to disappear, FC Europa, so they could register automatically. With a minor name change, Club Deportivo Europa was founded on June 5th 1907. The first president was Rodolf Collell Admetller, who presided over Europa until 1911, when he became vicepresident of the Federació Catalana de Futbol.
2004 - Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz, Andalusia): Llevant win the points to return to the Primera División of La Liga, where they had played in the 1963-64 and 1964-65 seasons.
2008 - Pep Guardiola signs the contract as coach for Futbol Club Barcelona's first team for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
1887 - Cervera, Província de Lleida: Agustí Duran i Sanpere, Catalan historian, archiver and archeologist (died 1975).
