1283 - Mediterranean Sea, close to the Island of Malta: Roger de Llúria beats the Angevins in the Combat de Malta.

1969 - Els Castellers de Barcelona raise its first Castell, a Pilar de 4, in Vendrell.

2004 - Barcelona: Òmnium Cultural awards the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes to Joan Francesc Mira.

2013 - Barcelona: The documentary Ciutat Morta screens for the first time at the form Palau del Cinema, renamed Cinema Patrícia Heras.


1873 - Monòver, el Vinalopó Mitjà: José Augusto Trinidad Martínez Ruiz, més conegut com a Azorín, Valencian writer and journalist.

1908 - Os de Balaguer, Noguera, Lleida: Leandre Cristòfol, Catalan sculptor, considered one of the pioneers of surrealist sculpture in Catalonia.

1952 - Barcelona: Emilio Pérez de Rozas, Catalan journalist.

1976 - Tortosa: Montse Castellà Espuny, singer-songwriter and social activist.


1976 - Matadepera, Vallès Occidental: Ricard Marlet i Saret, Catalan woodcutter, painter and sculptor.
