XXIV Saló del Manga de Barcelona is a must for Manga and Anime fans as well anyone interested in Japanese culture and in 2018 is being held at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc.
The event is organised by Ficomic is the most important Manga event in Spain and after humble beginnings at Estació de França and a very successful period at La Farga in Hospitalet, where attendance reached 65,000, the Barcelona Manga Fair has been held at the Fira de Barcelona since 2012.
With attendance expected to top 140,000 people, this year's Barcelona Manga Fair will occupy the more than 70,000 square metres of Palaus 1, 2, 4, 5 and la Plaça Univers of La Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc.
The big attractions in 2018 are Pokémon authors, Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto, and the creators of the feature film One Piece Gold, Hiroaki Miyamoto, Hiroyuki Sakurada and Masayuki Sato.
Other big names include the master of terror Junji Ito, the influential hental artist Toshio Maeda and the director of animation, Yoshimichi Tamura, who is respnsible for various Disney and Dreamworks projects.
YO-KAI WATCH and Pokémon will have a big presence this year especially at the 3,500-square-metre Nintendo video games area.
Japanese culture will also be on show with Palau 1 dedicated to Japanese gastronomy and the ground floor of Palau 2 will be full of exhibitors whilst the first will be for macrobiotic food workshops and tea tastings amongst other things.
Palau 4 is for the comic fans with Manga and Anime workshops as well workshops on Cosplay, video games and YouTube.
Palau 5 will have film showings, an exhibition of Japanese monsters and a softcombat space.
