1963 - Barcelona: Manel Lucas i Giralt Catalan journalist, impressionist and scriptwriter.

Deaths

1176 - Colltort Castle, Sant Feliu de Pallerols (la Garrotxa): Ramon Folc III of Cardona, Viscount of Cardona, betrayed and murdered by Guillem of Berguedà (according to some sources the year before; born 1151).

1459 - València: Ausiàs March, Valencian poet (born around 1397).

1964 - Barcelona: Antoni Pérez i Moya, musician.

1969 - Albaida (la Vall d'Albaida): Josep Segrelles i Albert, Valencian (born 1885).

2011 - Barcelona: Pep Torrents, Catalan theatre , television and film actor, with a long career also as a director and dubbing actor.

2013 - València: José Sancho, Valencian actor (born 1944).

Festivals and Commemorations

March 3rd is Saints' Day of Sant Medir of Barcelona was a peasant farmer, who is co-patron saint of Sant Cugat and his festival is celebrated here and in various Barcelona neighbourhoods.
