1897 - Barcelona: Vilfred Ricart, Catalan engineer, famous for his work on Automobiles and Aviation. He was particularly important in the design and manufacture of plane, car and lorry engines, such as the legendary Pegaso Z-102 or the Hispano Suiza.
1909 - Cocentaina, Comtat: Gustau Pascual Falcó, Valencian musician and composer, author of the paso-doble Paquito el Chocolatero (died 1946).
1948 - Sallent, Bages: Jaume Sorribas i Garcia, Catalan actor (died 2008).

1897 - Barcelona: Josep Fontserè i Mestre, Catalan builder and architect, such as Parc de la Ciutadella and el Mercat del Born.
1939 - Barcelona: Joaquim Ruyra i Oms, Catalan writer.
May 11th is the Saints' Day of Sant Isidre the Labourer, who is the patron saint of farmers throughout Spain and his festival is celebrated in a number of towns in Catalonia.
