1895 - Barcelona: first cinematographic exhibition in Catalonia: Thomas Alva Edison's is presented in Plaça de Catalunya.

1959 - The soprano Maria Callas gives her only performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona with a recital of various pieces from her repertory.

2002 - Màlaga: València CF mathematically becomes champion of La Liga after beating Málaga CF 0-2.

2007 - València: Massive demonstration of 70,000 people (according to organiser ACPV) in defence of País Valencià and to commemorate 300 years of the Battle of Almansa.

2011 - Manel release their second record "10 milles per veure una bona armadura".

1730 - Valls: Lluís Bonifaç i Massó, Catalan sculptor, one of the principal exponents of Catalan baroque sculpture.

1845 - Vilassar de Mar, Province of Barcelona: Jaume Almera i Comas, geologist and paleontologist.

1871 - Castelló de la Plana, Plana Alta: Vicent Castell i Domènech, Valencian painter, illustrator and decorator.

1884 - Valls, Province of Tarragona: Carles Cardó i Sanjoan, cleric and writer.

1899 - Sabadell, Province of Barcelona: Francesc Trabal i Benessat, novelist, storyteller and journalist.

Deaths

1849 - Paris, France: Vicent Salvà i Pérez, Valencian politician and literary publisher.
