1963 - París (France): Le Monde publishes statements by the Abbot of Montserrat, Aureli Maria Escarré, in which he defends the Catalan national identity. This would lead the Francoist authorities to expel him from Spain on March 12th 1965.


1897 - Barcelona: Concepció Badia i Millàs, Catalan soprano (died 1975).
1952 - Sallent, el Bages: Agustín Rueda Sierra, Catalan anarchist who would die in prison in 1978.


1813 - Cadis: Antoni Capmany, businessman, Catalanist and benefactor.
1976 - Sabadell: Joan Llonch i Salas, Catalan textile manufacturer.
2011 - Barcelona: Josep Pernau i Riu, Catalan journalist (born 1930).
2014 - Monastery of Poblet, Maur Esteva, Cistercian monk, Abbot of the Monastery of Poblet (1970-1998) and General Abbot of the Cistercian Order (1995-2005) (born 1933)
