1712 - Menorca: John Campbell, Second Duke of Argyll takes possession of the island in the name of the British Queen, in agreement with the Treaty of Utrecht.
2008 - Barcelona: Els Castellers de Barcelona build a 4 de 8 amb l'agulla for the first time in their history in the Plaça Valentí Almirall in the Clot neighbourhood of Barcelona.
2014 - Catalonia: holds the Consultation on the independence of Catalonia


1870 - Barcelona: Carles Padrós i Rubió, Catalan politician and businessman, one of the founders of Real Madrid Club de Futbol.
1903 - Vinaròs, Baix Maestrat: Francesc Almela i Vives, Valencian writer and historian (died 1967).
1936 - Barcelona: Eduard Punset, Catalan lawyer, economist and science TV presenter.
1961 - Barcelona: Antoni Bassas i Onieva, journalist and TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio correspondent, currently with the newspaper Ara.


1886 - Perpinyà, Rosselló: Andreu Toron i Vaquer, musician and instrument maker, inventor of the modern tenora (born 1815).
