1282 - Nicòtena, Kingdom of Naples: The Catalan fleet led Pere de Queralt i d'Anglesola beats the angevin fleet and the galleys of the Repúblic of Pisa at the Battle of Nicòtena, during the War of Sicily (1282-1289).
2003 - Lleida: The AVE high-speed train service connecting Lleida with Madrid via Zaragoza, opens. This was the first AVE connection between Catalonia and the Spanish capital and opened more than a decade after the original Madrid-Seville line.
