1899 - Barcelona: Mayor of Barcelona, Bartomeu Robert i Yarzábal, leads a shopkeepers' protest, known as the Tancament de Caixes, against the law of Silvela and his Treasury minister, Raimundo Fernández Villaverde.
1982 - Tous (la Canal de Navarrés): torrential rain (that reached 700 mm) provoked the overflow of the dam of the Tous resevoir and, as a result, there was a massive flood of 16.000 m3/s that covers the banks of the Xúquer.
2006 - Salt: The singer of the Catalan rock group Lax'N'Busto Pemi Fortuny announces he is retiring from live performances.
1842 - Tampico, Mèxico: Bartomeu Robert i Yarzábal, better known as Dr. Robert, Catalan doctor and politician (died 1902).
1894 - Sabadell, Vallès Occidental. Antoni Vila i Arrufat, Catalan painter, engraver and mural designer.
1947 - Barcelona: Jordi Coca, Catalan doctor in scenuc arts and writer.
1953 - Barcelona: Rodolfo del Hoyo Alfaro, writer.

1550 - València (l'Horta): Ferran of Aragon, Duke of Calàbria, Napolitan aristocrat with royal blood who became viceroy of València alongside his wife Germana de Foix (n. 1488).
1926 - Sabadell (Vallès Occidental), Josep Mir i Marcet, doctor and Sabadell councillor.
1939 - Tarragona (Tarragonès): Lluís Solà Padró, Catalan politician, republican mayor of Santa Coloma de Queralt.
2008 - Barcelona (Barcelonès): Ricard Maxenchs i Roca, Catalan journalist and executive, member of the board of directors of FC Barcelona.
