1958 - Barcelona, Barcelonès: Pilar Rahola, Catalan journalist, writer and politician, who is a well-known Catalanist and pro-independence activist.
    
1990 - El Masnou, el Maresme: Ricky Rubio, basketball player.

Deaths

1958 - Barcelona: Lluís Masriera i Rosés, Catalan goldsmith, painter, stage designer, and theatre director (born 1872).
   
1960 - Barcelona: Ferran Casablancas i Planell, Catalan businessman, who revolutionised the cotton industry in the first quarter of the 20th century (born 1874).
   
1968 - Barcelona: Aureli Maria Escarré i Jané, Benedictine monk and abbot of Montserrat.

Festivals, Commemorations and Trade Fairs

October 21st is the Saints Day of Santa Úrsula and, in Catalonia, her festival is mainly celebrated in Valls in the Alt Camp comarca in Tarragona Province.
