1848 - Catalunya - Barcelona and Mataró (El Maresme): the first railway line in Spain opens between the two towns.
1900 - Barcelona: Àngel Rodríguez, Octavi Aballí and Lluís Roca founded Sociedad Española de Football, which became Club Deportivo Español in 1910 and is now RCD Espanyol.
1938 - Espanya: the International Brigades leave the country.
1994 - Morella: Xarxa Vives d'Universitats is constituted.
2006 - the website, Racó Català informs that the videogames Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories by Rockstar Games, have a poster in Catalan in one of the scenes.
1510 - Gandia: Francesc de Borja, religious leader.
1874 - Sabadell: Ferran Casablancas i Planell, Catalan businessman, who revolutionised the cotton industry in the first quarter of the 20th century (died 1960).
1878 - Igualada: Emili Vallès i Vidal, Catalan grammarian (died 1950).
1898 - Sabadell: Josep Moix i Regàs, general secretary of PSUC, mayor of Sabadell, minister of Treball (Work) in the Spanish government during the Second Republic.
1902 - Sant Carles de la Ràpita: Sebastià Juan Arbó, Catalan writer (died 1984).
1924 - Madrid: Antoni Creus i Rubin de Celis, Formula 1 driver.
1963 - Barcelona: Queco Novell, Catalan journalist and comic actor.
1970 - València: Eduard López-Chávarri i Marco, Valencian composer, writer and musical theorist (99 years old).
2003 - Barcelona: Joan Perucho, Catalan writer, particularly of short stories.
