1966 - Equatorial Guinea: the primatologist Jordi Sabater Pi buys the albino gorilla Floquet de Neu, for 20,000 pesetas. The gorilla known as Copito de Nieve in Spanish, which translates as Snowflake in English, was to become the undisputed star of Barcelona Zoo until his death in 2003.
1319 - Balaguer, la Noguera: Pere the Cerimonious, sovereign of the Crown of Aragon (died 1387).
1815 - Sant Cugat del Vallès: Josep Maria Bocabella i Verdaguer, Catalan bookseller and philanthropist, who was the person who promoted the idea of La Sagrada Família.
1875 - Sabadell: Feliu Llonch i Mates, Catalan textile factory owner.
1921 - Vic: Joan Collell i Cuatrecasas, Catalan priest (born 1864).
1946 - Altea, Marina Baixa: Francesc Martínez i Martínez, Valencian historian (born 1866).
2007 - València: Matilde Salvador i Segarra, Valencian composer and painter (born 1918).
2011 - Cambrils: Josep Salceda i Castells, official chronicler of the town of Cambrils (born 1923).
