Raül Romeva i Rueda was born in Madrid on March 12th 1971 and is a Catalan politician, analyst and author.
He was Member of the European Parliament for Iniciativa de Catalunya-Verds between 2004 and 2014, and after deciding not to stand for the European elections in 2014, left the party due to differences with the leadership over the Catalan Independence issue.
He planned to withdraw from politics but became involved with the grassroots pro-independence organisation the Catalan National Assembly and was chosen to head the list for the Junts pel Sí coalition in the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on September 27th 2015.
He was Minister for For Foreign Affairs in the Catalan Government during the 11th Legislature.
In the elections to the Catalan Parliament of December 21st 2017, Raül Romeva stood for Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and was re-elected to the chamber.
