Saints' Day of Sant Blai

February 3rd

February 3rd is the Saints' Day of Sant Blai, who was a physician and bishop of Sebastea in historical Armenia and the day is motive for a number of winter festivals around Catalonia.

He was born in Sebastea, now Silvas in modern Turkey, in the late third century and reportedly went from being a physician, or healer of men, to a bishop, or healer of souls.

According to the Acta Sanctorum, he was martyred by being beaten, attacked with iron combs, and beheaded and for this reason, he is the patron saint of wool combers.
