Saints' Day of Sant Julià

January 9th

January 9th is the Saints' Day of Sant Julià, who was born to Christian parents in Antoquia in the third century and the day is a reason for a number of winter festivals.

Julià and his wife began to preach during the period of Christian persecutions by Diocletian and after his wife's death, he was imprisoned for his Christian faith.

In prison, he is attributed with resuscitating the dead after their executions, which apparently annoyed the Byzantine Emperor so much that he had them all beheaded including Julià.
