Saints' Day of Sant Vicenç Màrtir

January 22nd

January 22nd is the Saints' Day of Sant Vicenç, who was a Hispano-Roman Christian martyr, deacon to Sant Valerí, Bishop of Zaragoza, and is patron saint of Valencia and a number of other towns.

Sant Vicenç was born in Huesca in the second half of the third century and became deacon to the Bishop of Zaragoza. He was captured and tortured during the Diocletian Persecution and was martyred in Valencia.

He is generally portrayed dressed his deacon's robes and is often accompanied by crows or holding a millstone, which is why he's also as Sant Vicenç de la Roda or Saint Vincent of the Wheel.
