October 15th is the Saints Day of Santa Teresa of Avila, who along with Saint John of the Cross, is considered one of the maximum exponents of Christian mysticism.
Teresa de Cepeda y Ahumada, better-known as Santa Teresa de Jesús or simply Teresa de Ávila was born Gotarrendura or Ávila on March 28th 1515 and died in Alba de Tormes on October 4th 1582.
She was a writer and a mystic who founded the Order of the Discalced Carmelites of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel and was canonised just 40 years after her death.
She is the patron saint of writers and of Spain.
