1245 - València: Jaume I creates the institution of the "jurats".

1997 - Sueca (l'Horta, Valencia): the tomb of Joan Fuster is vandalised.

2004 - Madrid (Spain): the Spanish government formally asks the European Union for a reform of the linguistic regime so that Catalan (differentiating it from Valencian) can be an official language.

2010 - Barcelona: the book distributor L'Arc de Berà closes.


1892 - Puig-reig: Esteve Maria Relat i Corominas, doctor and mayor of Sabadell from 1923 to 1930.

1904 - Barcelona: Miquel Brasó, historian and archeologist from Gràcia.

1968 - Barcelona: Santi Millán, actor.


1880 - Pelegrí Clavé, Catalan painter.

1943 - Friburg (Switzerland): Francesc d'Assís Vidal i Barraquer, Catalan cardinal (born 1868)

2012 - Francesc Candela i Escrivà, Valencian lawyer and politician, point of reference for left-wing Valencianism in the comarca of la Safor.
