1714 - Catalonia: A week after the fall of Barcelona, Cardona is ordered to surrender, having been the last place in Catalonia to hold out in The War of the Spanish Succession.

1893 - Sabadell (el Valles Occidental): Gustau Vila i Berguedà, Grapa, Catalan cartoonist charicaturist (died 1955).

1895 - Barcelona: Josep Pascual i Vila, Catalan chemist (died 1979)

1916 - Barcelona: Mercedes Salisachs Roviralta, Catalan writer who wrote in Spanish (died 2014).

1923 - Barcelona (el Barcelonès): Xavier Valls i Subirà, Catalan painter, father of Manuel Valls i Galfetti.


1834 - Igualada (l'Anoia): Joan Romagosa i Pros, Carlist military leader executed by firing squad.

1970 - Barcelona: Eduard Fontserè i Riba, Catalan meteorologist and seismologist.

1989 - Barcelona: Antoni Vila i Arrufat, Catalan painter and engraver.
