1713 - Terrassa, Principat de Catalunya: During the War of the Spanish Succession, the Bourbon troops occupy, sack and burn the town of Terrassa for three days.

2012 - Sant Pere de Torelló, Principat de Catalunya: a motion in favour of a Catalan declaration of independence was passed at a plenary session open to the public.


1885 - València: Rafael Benedito Vives, Valencian composer and music teacher (m. 1963).

1924 - Barcelona: Jordi Sarsanedas, Catalan writer. (died 2006)


1652 - Naples: Josep de Ribera, lo Spagnoletto, Valencian painter and engraver (born 1591).

1973 - Prague: Josep Moix i Regàs, General Secretary of PSUC, mayor of Sabadell, general manager of Work and minister of Treball in the Spanish government.

1974 - Berga: Aurora Bertrana i Salazar, Catalan writer.

2008 - Taradell, Osona: Joan Segarra i Iracheta, Catalan footballer, FC Barcelona player.

2014 - Barcelona: Josep Lloveras i Feliu, Catalan painter and sculptor.
