1229 - Salou (el Tarragonès): the fleet that would conquer Mallorca set sail under the orders of Jaume I.

1909 - Paterna (l'Horta de València): Gaspar Brunet and Joan Olivert makes the first airplane flight in the Catalan-speaking countries.

1976 - Barcelona: Joaquim Maria Puyal makes the first radio broadcast of a football match in Catalan since the Civil War in 1936.

2005 - Calvià (Mallorca): IB3 Televisió begins regular broadcasting.


1908 - Berlin, Germany: Joaquim Nin-Culmell, composer who was nationalised US citizen with Catalan roots (died 2004).

1930 - Barcelona: Joaquim Molas i Batllori, Catalan writer, historian and university professor.
